Alice was painting her nails bright red while sitting at her new desk in Nick's brand new office. Alice couldn't complain, it turned out better than she thought it would considering the movers here in this town. Blowing on her nails to dry them, she glanced around the office watching her boss at his desk doing god knows what. Wasn't too sure what the Fae was doing but she guessed she was relaxing or had fallen asleep on the overstuffed couch. She did pride herself on the furniture here, she made a good call. "Almost...dry.." She mumbled blowing more hoping they'd dry quick before she got a phone call.

Ɓυввℓєѕ lazed on the couch in Nick's new office. She was glad they'd decided to rent the whole building and and use the upper two floors as their new apartment instead. Their old place was a hole and she was kinda glad to be out of there. Especially as it was where she'd spent the 2 months without him. She'd rather be away from those painful memories. Business was slow at the moment and she had no new cases to work on so she'd spent the morning setting up the new apartment and decided to bring Nick down some lunch. She ended up hanging around for a while with nothing much else to do, although she really should be getting on with fixing up her office. She glanced over at Alice and rolled her eyes as she noticed the woman preening herself... again. It seems to be all she ever did. Then tilted her head back to give an upside down glance into Nick's office. "How was your lunch baby?"

Nick had hardly touched the lunch he was brought as he pecked at the keyboard of his laptop.  There had been a number of emails inquiring how things were going and how much he'd gotten done.  Pretty stupid considering he'd only just settled in but he had answered the emails with the same polite tone he took with everyone else.  It was rare to see Nick lose it, he felt anyone who couldn't maintain their temper wasn't of much use.  He settled back in the chair when Bubbles had called to him and gave the food a look before he poked it a few times, "Good, it's just great..."  He wanted to say that he'd rather have sushi then get up and grab Alice's polish and throw it out into the street.  The smell always gave him a headache.  Sending the emails with one punch from his forefinger, he glanced out the glass door.  The place had come together perfectly and he liked how it reflected his tastes.  Hell, how else do you project your worth?  You surround yourself with good things.  It was something he'd been taught by his mother who had clung to her society roots like a redneck in the old south clung to their prejudices.  "Alice, have you seen a beauty salon around town because last I looked my office wasn't one."

Alice listened hearing her boss and rolls her eyes while putting the polish away. "Yes your excellency...I was finished anyway." Does her habit of sighing even though she didn't need to obviously and went to typing away at her new computer finding something to do. She was irritable due to being hungrier than normal with the Fae around. Resisting the urge to take a chunk out of the girl she busied herself, thankful when the phone rang and answered it. "Hello Attorney Nick's Office how may I help you?" She put on her fake cheery tone when answering clients.

Kᴀᴅᴀʀ ᴀʟ-Mᴀʜᴀᴍᴏᴛɪ  had been keeping an eye out all day. Not to be nosy, but he was just curious. There was no harm in that, right? The building had been empty for so long, he was still getting used to there being people. It was really nice to actually have someone else on the block. Sure, there was the newspaper and its staff, but he already knew them. They weren't as interesting to him. Make no mistake, the djinn loved his solitude, but he was also a social creature by default. He pulled off his headphones with a laugh, since he'd decided to go over for a visit right as Highway to Hell began playing across the airwaves. It struck him as genuinely funny. Exiting the door and turning to head next door, he descended the steps and walked into the office. He saw Alice was on the phone, so he kept his voice low instead of going off like a cannon. "Helloooo," He said, heading over to greet Bubbles and waving at Nick. "Nice office. Classy, but inviting. Elegant. How're we settling in?"

Ɓυввℓєѕ watched as Alice rolled her eyes and shook her head a little at Alice's attitude toward her boss. It annoyed her a little but she knew Nick had a handle on it. She could hear Nick tapping away at his laptop on the office and she hoped that maybe it was some work coming in. She wanted him to succeed even though it meant she would be going against him in court. Just as she was considering what to do with the rest of the afternoon, she heard the office door open and sat up on the couch to find the guy from last night, Kadar stood in the doorway She smiled at him, still a little unsure what to make of him, and she greeted him politely as he approached her. "Hey Kadar ! Great to see you again!"

Nick hadn't heard Alice's reply as he'd been still lost in thought, trying to consider his next moves.  He knew he'd have to give the higher up more than an excuse about time restraints.  "Eh fuck it," he muttered before he heard Alice's phone line and he scowled, "I thought I told you answer as "Good day you've reached Attorney Nick Courtois' office...What is this sad line you're squeaking at everyone.  I know your mouth opens wider than that, speak up."  Dropping his weight back on the chair he grabbed his lunch and took a large bite, his mouth crammed full just as the Dj from the night before had strolled in.  Instead of speaking he waved, then ducked his head while turning away so he could finish up the food.

Kᴀᴅᴀʀ ᴀʟ-Mᴀʜᴀᴍᴏᴛɪ  grinned at Bubbles' reply, "And the same goes for you, madam. Working hard, or hardly working?" He teased, taking note of how she lounged on the couch. "Maybe I need to get a couch in my studio..." It was funny, because he'd actually been looking at furniture to put in there. He took a moment to stop and look out the window just to see what kind of view they had before turning back. He figured that, since they were all neighbors, they'd be spending some time in close proximity to one another. Might as well get it over with... he reached up and pulled off his sunglasses, revealing eyes as golden as the desert sunset, full of just as much light and fire. All things considered, they were quite beautiful eyes, though clearly, blatantly, irrefutably not human. "So as lawyers," He began curious, "What sort of cases do you find yourself handling? All sorts, or do you cater to a specific type of circumstance?"

Ɓυввℓєѕ Ƈσυятσιѕ (trinity.ermintrood) scoffed to herself a little as Nick berated Alice on her telephone answering skills. Makes a change to see her doing something other than grooming herself though. Her expression changed to a smirk in response to Kadars comment about hardly working. "Yessir, it's just one of those days.." She chuckled softly before her eyes widened a little as he removed his shades. If she didn't know better she would have sworn the room actually lit up from the brightness of his eyes and she was then certain he was not human. She's sensed it before but with her magic and supernatural skills being so untrained, and having lived as a human for so long, she wasn't really sure what the feeling was that she had but now she was certain. Although she had no clue what he was. Looking away quickly before he caught her staring, she shifted on the couch a little before responding to his question. "Well, I'll defend anyone that needs defending in all honesty. As long as I believe they have a case. I refuse to play devils advocate! But sure, I'll take anything, although up to now it's been mostly petty small stuff. No big cases for me yet!" She chuckled again and nervously glanced toward Nick.

Alice smiles watching Kadar walk in, giving him a little wink as she ended the phone call. "Hello again Sir Kadar how are you fairing today?" Listens to him talking to Bubbles and Nick. She snorted sighing again at her boss' remark. "My apologies Boss...I'll fix that right away.." When it came to feeding, yes her mouth could open very wide but that was another thought. Sniffing the air, she realized Kadar wasn't human by his scent and couldn't place exactly what he was yet but figured he'd reveal it if he wished. Alice didn't get a good look at his eyes but the office got somewhat brighter when he removed his sunglasses which puzzled her.

Nick finished up the large bite of food and brushed a hand over the lower half of his face to remove any crumbs. Turning back to the computer, he began to poke at the keyboard again, listening to Bubbles explain what she did, then scoffed with a slight grunt, "Bubbles is a defense attorney, they pretty much do whatever their client is willing to pay.  She's the one who sprays circumstantial evidence all over a case just to make my life harder.  She's the great weaver of bullshit theories and fantasyland "maybes" while I bring about justice." He grinned but didn't take his eyes off his computer screen.  He could only imagine Bubbles' expression.  He hadn't noticed Kadar's eyes or anything else.  Normally Ava would fill him in on who or what had entered the room when he needed to know.  It was one of the perks of having her around.

Kᴀᴅᴀʀ ᴀʟ-Mᴀʜᴀᴍᴏᴛɪ  nodded as he listened, leaning down to look at the open book on the table. Didn't seem to be anything he recognized or would be interested in. "Makes sense. Stick to what you know and work your way up, right? Master one level before you ascend to the next. You'll be handling large cases in no time, so don't worry. Though around here, there hasn't been much legal trouble. Everyone gets along for the most part. Now lately there has been a spike in the island's population. More people means more troubles, which will of course mean more work for this office. You actually got here at a good time. The quiet before the proveribal storm." He looked up, flashing another bright grin, having seen her look away. Hearing that Alice was off the phone, he turned to regard her with one of his usual warm smiles. "Hello Madam Alice, I'm faring quite well, thank you. I hope the same can be said for you?" He was slowly, but surely, getting a bead on her. He didn't detect quite the  same fire of life from her as he felt from the others. Had he known exactly for sure, he still wouldn't have cared. Live and let live. Or un-live, perhaps more accurately. Hearing Nick, he turned and laughed as he made his way through the office- perhaps he had a hard time staying still? "Oh, don't tell me you're afraid of a challenge, Mister Courtois? Armani-clad stud like you shouldn't have any problem tossing the javelins of justice through the hearts of the guilty and depraved. Besides, women who are challenging are what make great men, great. What fun is life without a little opposition?" He turned and winked at Bubbles as if they shared a conspiratorial secret.

Ɓυввℓєѕ rolled her eyes and shook her head at Nick's comments. He always poked fun at her about her position. Up to now, she had never actually come up against each other in court, but she knew, now they were on a small island with limited attorneys, it wouldn't be long before they did. This could get interesting. She kept her eye on Nick for a minute, wondering if he had noticed the same thing she had, that Kadar was not human, knowing his hatred for Supernaturals she did wonder how he'd react, but for now, his focus was on his laptop and he hadn't even glanced in the mans direction. She briefly looked toward Alice to see if there was any note of recognition on her face as to what Kadar might be but Alice looked just as puzzled. Although that could just be her general facial expression. Turning her attention back to Kadar, she smiled politely at his comments, "That's right... work my way up... Even if it means I gotta kick his ass in the process!" She motioned her head toward Nick and shot a grin as she teased.

Alice smiled still as Kadar addressed her and bowed her head slightly, flips her hair to make the large curl of her hair stand out. "Oh I am doing great...here at work like always." She chuckled shrugging her pale shoulders which made her large chest bounce. When Kadar turned his attention back to the other two, she stretched yawning and went back to typing on the computer. "Oh by the way boss..you have an appointment tomorrow...just so you know!" She announced when no one was speaking at that moment. Alice then got out the necessary paperwork that the client would have to read over and sign on all the lines she put X's beside. Didn't realize she was humming an old song she'd heard when she was young to herself.

Nick  continued to type, his fingers now scrambling quick over the keyboard as he listened to the conversation.  He would smile and nod when he felt it was necessary but he wasn't listening with all his attention, just enough to pick up key words. "I look forward to the opportunity to battle the fair red head in court, I just hope it is a challenge because you know if I win she'll probably lock me out of the house and refuse me sex."  He grinned wryly, then frowned when he heard Alice shout out his schedule. Glancing through the wall of glass his pale eyes nailed on her.  After a second he slipped his right hand under his left and turned the ring on his finger knowing it would send a jolt of energy through the bracelets she wore.  "I think I might need you to write that down and place the information on my desk Alice."  His voice was calm and with the same curl of politeness that flourished his words.

Kᴀᴅᴀʀ ᴀʟ-Mᴀʜᴀᴍᴏᴛɪ  laughed as he glanced between the two and the shots being traded. "As soon as you two end up on the same case, I'm going to have to make sure to come watch. Love to see that battle royale."Looking back at Alice, he grinned. "I know what you mean... Seems like working is how I spend most of my time, too. But I get to play with music all day long, so I can't really call it 'work'." He brushed his fingers through his dark hair, politely ignoring the exchange between Nick and Alice as he sat down beside Bubbles. "So, you should probably know that things on this island are different. I'm sure you know all about the war that's crippled most of the world's societies... Mystic Cove has, so far, been untouched by that war. Supernaturals and humans have lived relatively harmoniously together here for... a long time now. What are your thoughts on that, my dear? Coexistence like that?"

Ɓυввℓєѕ laughed loudly at Nick's comments. "Lock you outta the house maybe... but refuse you sex ? Now why would I punish MYSELF like that at the same time." She flashed him a grin as she shifted on the couch and tucked her leg up underneath her, then responding to Kadar. "Oh it'll be a battle for sure... We're both VERY good at what we do..." She chuckled softly. it was the truth, she WAS a great defense attorney although she didn't owe it all to talent and a great education. A lot of it was down to certain skills she possessed, ones that came along with being a Fae. Her deep empathy way beyond human level, and telepathy although she tried to never use it, having shunned her heritage and striving to live as a human. But never-the-less, it was there as were a few other handy skills that all made her great at her job. She, too, was looking forward to her first battle against Nick in court. And she knew they were strong enough to be able to check it all at the courthouse doors and leave work at work when they came home each day. She became nervous again when Kadar seated himself beside her, and even more so at his question. Did he know what she was ?? He must know, if he himself were a Supernatural, which he obviously was, he would have some kind of sense that she wasn't a human. But he couldn't know of her rejecting her roots and what she was. "I... err... Well I think it's great if everyone can coexist and live together in peace. I think that's what the whole world should be like... Although I don't think I can ever remember a time when even humans lived in peace with other humans..." She pondered on this a while... She was 240 after all, she'd been around a while and still couldn't remember a time of true peace in the world. She shrugged and tried to get the focus off of her. Uncomfortable with being the center of attention anywhere but in the court room. "I just hope the war stays away from here, that's my thoughts..."

Alice froze when he stared at her then twitched watching him go for his ring. "shit.." She whispered under her breath then jumped gritting her teeth at the harsh jolt that burned her wrists, making her nod her head. "Y-Yes...Sir..I'll do that right..away." Hisses low still hopefully they didn't hear that and quickly jotted down the information. Slowly stood from her desk and made her way passed Kadar smiling, but then noticed his eyes marveling at them for a moment before heading into Nick's office. Tried her best not to glare at Nick when she placed the paper on his desk. "There you are Boss...just like you asked.."

Nick reached out and would attempt to clamp his hand on Alice's wrist. He leaned forward while flashing a smile then spoke through clenched teeth. "You're lucky I'm patient.  Now tell me, /what/ is the guy seated out on the couch?"  He tilted his head then, his ear close to her lips as he waited for a reply.  His pale eyes were bright now with his contained anger yet he wouldn't lose his control.  Control was important after all, right? Can't fuckin go off like some classless psychotic, right?  No, of course not.  The rambling voice in his head calmed him some.

Kᴀᴅᴀʀ ᴀʟ-Mᴀʜᴀᴍᴏᴛɪ  chuckled in turn, nodding when he heard they were both proficient in their fields. He couldn't help but smirk when he noticed she seemed uncomfortable with the topic at hand. "I agree, of course. It's a nice thought, anyway." He leaned forward, resting his arms on his knees as he got comfortable. "I have a feeling it will. We've lasted this long, anyway. I think if anyone tried to bring the war here, the island would band together to fend them off. Lots of people like the way of life around here. To see that in jeaopoardy would be, most likely, the one thing that could unite everybody. That's my theory, anyway."

Ɓυввℓєѕ watched Alice walk somewhat nervously into Nick's office and saw him grab her wrist, speaking quietly to her although she couldn't hear what was said. She nodded in agreement as Kadar spoke, she had noticed it seemed for the most part peaceful around Mystic Cove, although she was aware of the hunters, gladly she'd never experienced them or their ways other than Nick's rantings. She pondered for a minute on how things WOULD be if the war came to Mystic cove, and wondered where Nick's loyalties would lie when it came to her and what she was. Getting lost in her own thoughts for a moment.

Alice wasn't expecting him to grab her wrist making a hiss escape her from the burn that was trying to heal now. Seeing the deadly smile, she felt that dreaded coldness she felt when he got in that mood. "ngh...ow..I'm..sorry Sir.." Alice then took another glance at Kadar but briefly. "I'm...not sure..I don't smell blood...in him..not like yours or the Fae..it smells..smoky..like ash.." Tried to make sense of it looking back at her boss. "He maybe a demon of some kind? I'm not a miracle worker here.." She bit her lip thinking that probably wasn't smart of her to say.

Nick nodded then rose, releasing her.  "Okay...I'm going to head to the courthouse there's some files I need to gather.  I should only be a few minutes."  Straightening out his coat, he headed for the front exit, not bothering to glance around him. "I'll be back in a sec, no worries,  Excuse me."  Shoving the door open he strode out of the front door. He wasn't willing to spend time in a small space with whatever the Kadar guy was.  It wasnt smart or something he wanted to do. He hoped Bubbles would accept his abrupt exit, if not he had a lot to come home to.

Kᴀᴅᴀʀ ᴀʟ-Mᴀʜᴀᴍᴏᴛɪ  turned his attention to the books stacked in front of him, lifting one to see if he could glean what it was about. He glanced up as Nick passed by and offered a grin in his direction. "See ya later. I should probably be heading back too. My equipment gets a bit rebellious and starts playing whatever it likes if I'm not there to keep an eye on things." He rose and replaced his sunglasses back over his eyes. "It was nice to see you all again. Swing by the station sometime, yeah?" He took his leave, returning to the central hub of music for the island.

Ɓυввℓєѕ saw Alice glance toward Kadar and whisper something back at Nick and figured he must have been the topic of conversation, especially with Nick's abrupt exit right afterward. She knew it probably meant he'd figured Kadar wasn't human and therefore didn't want to share the same space with him anymore. If it weren't for the fact he'd been in love with her for 6 years, he probably wouldn't want to be around Bubbles either. "I should probably head upstairs and make a start on dinner. Gotta keep the man happy right!" She chuckled and was relieved when Kadar stood to make his exit. "Was good to see you again Kadar. Take care!" She nodded toward Alice and head towards the door to their apartment.

Alice nodded her head listening to her boss for once without question rubbing her wrists. "Yes Sir." Walks out locking his doors to his office with the key Nick gave her. Waves goodbye to Kadar smiling. "Come back again and you should give us a tour sometime of your station." She grinned, nodding to Bubbles as she made her exit as well. She'd have to wait for her feeding till night fell
